Apple Pie Energy Balls – Healthy Snacks on the GO

Kids, adults, whoever leads an active life will appreciate these oaty apple pie energy balls.  So damn simple to make and takes next to no time – they are an awesome go to snack to take on the road, to after school sport or just have in the fridge for a post or pre workout snack.

I  demonstrated these yummy energy balls at two cooking workshops I presented last week for the City of the Gold Coast and local school, Clover Hill Primary.  

Apple Pie Energy Balls

Ingredients

1 cup dried apple

½ cup dried seedless dates

½ cup oats

½ tsp cinnamon

3 tablespoons chia seeds

How to Make

  1. Place all ingredients in a food processor. Progressively build speed until ingredients begin to form a thick paste. This can take up to 1 minute.
  2. With a tablespoon amount roll ingredients into ball shapes between palms of the hand and place on a tray. Using disposable gloves stops your handy getting super sticky! As an option you can also roll in almond meal or shredded coconut to finish.
  3. Place in fridge to set for 1 hour.
