Yummy Cocao and Chia Seed Bliss Balls

Some days you’re just run off your feet, too busy to even think about eating …

Before you know it, you’re absolutely fanging and grab something that, well, wasn’t really the best option and now regretting the mindless choice.

To help overcome these times, the secret is to keep little snacks in the cupboard, bite-size morsels that will take the hungry edge off until you have time to whip up something decent.  I like to have homemade goodies at the ready that are full of all the right ingredients to top up on.

My cocao and chia seed bliss balls are super easy to make with no baking, take next to no time and store forever in the freezer.  You can also add protein powder just to pack a real punch in the protein stakes.  There is quite a lot of natural sugars from the dates in this recipe so the protein aids in slowing down the release of the sugars into the bloodstream and to prolong satiety.

This is how they are made

Yummy Cocao and Chia Seed Bliss Balls

Ingredients (makes approx 8 small balls)

+ 250gm dates
+ 1/2 cup water
+ 2 scoops hemp seed protein powder
+ 100gm of LSA mix (linseed, sunflower and almonds)
+ 2 tbs cocao powder
+ 2 tbs chia seeds
+ 100gm shredded coconut
+ sesame seeds to coat

Method

+ Bring the dates to boil with the water until mushy and water is absorbed+ Once cooled, add the rest of the dry ingredients to the dates and combine+ Using hands roll into small balls and then once they are all done, roll in the sesame seeds

+ place in an airtight container and store in the freezer (they won’t actually freeze)

These balls are full of antioxidants (chia seeds), omega-3 (LSA mix), gluten-free and high in protein.
