I’m going through a breakfast smoothie phase at the moment. Probably partly due to the heat and just wanting something easy to digest and not feel too stoggy on. Working out in the heat seems to suppress my appetite so to make sure I’m fuelling properly after a workout whipping up a smoothie in the thermomix is my go to at the moment.
This smoothie is full to the brim of superfood goodness and is nutrient dense with heaps of fibre, energy and antioxidants. The maca powder is an addition which helps with endurance and is a is a powerful adaptogen. This means it is great to support our system to better cope with stress and balance hormones in male and females.
This is more of a breakfast smoothie and is super thick as the chia seeds absorb the milk. If you want something a little more hardy just add a 1/4 cup muesli.
Here’s how I make it (Bioglan have a great range of superfoods which include chia seeds, cocoa powder, maca powder and acai berry powder)
Choc berry superfood smoothie
1 1/2 cups rice milk (or any dairy free milk)
2 tablespoons chia seeds
1 tsp cocao powder
1/4 cup berries
1 tsp acai (add more if no berries)
1tsp maca powder
1 tbs goji berries
1 tbs honey or 5 dates to sweeten
Blend it up and enjoy!
