Oh my, who said smoothies are only for the warmer months? Take this thick hot chocolate smoothie recipe and run with it.. you will not be disappointed with this healthy winter chocolate bomb!
Using cacao instead of sugary store-bought versions makes this not only yummy but a nutritional drink as well.
Hot Chocolate Smoothie
Ingredients
1 cup nut, rice milk or almond milk
1 medium banana
1 tbs raw cacao powder
1 tsp vanilla bean paste
2 tbs of honey (feel free to omit if you like less sugar)
1 tbs chia seeds
¼ cup rolled oats
How to Make
- Pour the milk into a glass jar and add the oats, allow to soak overnight (not necessary but it adds to the creaminess of the smoothie)
- Blend all the ingredients together in a blender, if it becomes too thick add more milk
- Heat a small saucepan and heat the smoothie until warm. Pour into a serving glass and enjoy!
