That’s right, it’s easy to think your blender is sitting on your benchtop only for the times you feel like whipping up a post workout smoothie but in reality the humble blender is claiming it’s kitchen space more than ever in our modern day diets.

As we approach summer, we appreciate light and cooling meals to match the climate so here are a few ideas to keep up your sleeve.

1.  DIPS

How good is a homemade dip served with some seeded crackers when company arrive?  Here’s a few examples I found

2.  SOUPS

I have done a few soups in a blender in my time, and it usually meant I did small batches at a time to ensure a smooth consistency. The blender can be used as a final step to puree or a way to combine ingredients, say, in a tomato soup

3.  PASTA SAUCES

Have leftovers? no problem, throw them in the blender and before you know it there is tonights dinner to be served over pasta.

4.  PEANUT BUTTER

Hmm, my number 1 vice is peanut butter .. forgot the sugar/salt laden store varieties and make your own nut butter.  Mix things up and try different nuts. Note: you may need a quality blender to get the right consistency

5.  ICE CREAM

Of the healthy variety of course! Fruit of your choice and it works best if it is pre chilled in your freezer. Add cocao powder, vanilla or yoghurt for more bang.

6. BAKING INGREDIENTS

Need some gluten free flour? Now worries just throw in some oats, quinoa, almonds etc and create an instant flour. Let your imagination run wild with ideas that could add to your recipes
