My golly gosh, what an amazing ANZAC day we had to remember our troops. The weather turned it on in fine style and made it very easy to wake before dawn and pay tribute at the sunrise services.
The ROAR SUP group I train with met at our usual time and paddled around to the Currumbin surfclub which host one of the countries largest memorial services in the country…and the most picturesque.
It was the perfect way to avoid the crowds and watch the proceedings from a completely different perspective…from the ocean. We joined the surfboats who were raising their oars in honour of our soldiers and to re-enact how they arrived at the shores of Gallipoli.
It was beautiful watching the sunrise and hearing the gun shots and bugle playing the haunting tune of the last post.
On the way back the sun had well and truly risen and it was time to have some fun…
