At the beginning of the year I wrote a post about the direction that I wanted 2012 to head. It was to be a reignition of sorts and getting back to basics with things that pleased my soul the most. You can read about it here
After going back and reading what I wrote, I think I nailed it and couldn’t have preconceived it any better. Although there wasn’t any goals set in stone, that is what I loved about 2012 the most. A lot of new direction and opportunities have arisen that I couldn’t in my wildest dreams ever thought would be possible. I am loving this part of my life the most, with no time to get ‘stuck’ in any one routine with the currents constantly changing and bringing new challenges.
This time last year I bought my first competitive SUP (standup paddle board) and nearly to the exact date I have been given the opportunity to be a team rider one of my childhood sporting hero’s waterman, Robby Naish and his brand Naish SUP. You can read about it on SUP racer here.
My eldest daughter starts school this year and that in itself is one huge milestone for the whole family. Soooo many people told me it would happen quickly, and if I don’t think about it too hard (there has been some long days in there) then yes, it’s gone way too quickly and life moves at such a quick pace these days.
What I guess I have learnt is that there is no one ‘model’ of you that you need to conform to. Don’t let society or others tell you otherwise. Don’t be afraid to let go of the old and be in with the new. When it comes to the fork in the road don’t be hesitant to take the road unknown, it could lead to bigger and better things.
